Over the past two days or so, there were several articles published regarding the status of Ladybug's licensing. I guess PGS had a press release or something. To get the not-so-great news out of the way first. The articles say it will be released in the second quarter of 2015, which I guess still counts as early 2015 because it's still technically during the first half of the year. I don't know how broadcast companies divvy up the fiscal year, but I'm going to assume it means April-June of 2015.
I am totally not saddened by the revelation that the show still won't be out for another year. T_T. And, since early-to-mid-2015 is not late-2014, we're probably not gonna be getting anything this summer. That said, they had intended to release the pilot months before the show itself aired anyway. So, maybe we'll get to see the trailers/pilot deal before the year's over. I hope. Whatever, I'm gonna play the ladybug slot machine thing to make me feel better.
On a less depressing note, I found this nifty quote from an executive at gloob:
“We fell in love with LadyBug as soon as we laid our eyes upon it,” said Paula Taborda dos Guaranys, the head of content and programming at Gloob. “We’re witnessing in the entertainment industry throughout the world that girls are finally taking on their worthy role as heroes. They are strong and powerful—and LadyBug is part of that. She takes part in a great adventure and does it with grace. The series brings action in a wondrous setting and dynamic characters combined with amazing artwork. It has all the values that Gloob stands for; that’s why it fits so perfectly with us. We’re certain it’s going to be a worldwide success!”
I'm quite interested in the implication of a) beautiful artwork, b) dynamic characters, and c) lots'a girl power B).
And here's another one from the President of PGS:
“Since becoming the top show at MIP Junior last fall, interest in LadyBug has been huge,” said Philippe Soutter, the president of PGS Entertainment. “It brings such a unique twist to the superhero genre with a modern-girl, central character who is in sync with kids’ and teens’ lives today. We are confident LadyBug will be the next girl superhero.”
Also, the articles all say Cat Noir. So that name gets 10 points in wafflecount2014. And I guess '2015 release date' gets 30 points ._.
