^ what they all said.
Quick question. Wouldn't the bell collar be a hindrance too if he was trying to sneak around? I mean that's not exactly a small one.. Unless there's no clanger inside.

I'm guessing it doesn't have a clanger.
...although let's face it neither of these costumes are especially practical. Ladybug's is like a bright red target and has those hair ribbons, and Chat's has that huge tail and a rather cumbersome yellow bell on his chest. P=

True, I'd laugh if they end up tripping on their own costumes at some point. I don't think the bell weighs enough to slow him down however. Especially if it's empty.
Though I've never worn a bell collar so I can't really say.
Aside from the tripping hazards, their outfits are somewhat practical. Ladybug is shown fighting the Mime in CQC, and a skintight flexible outfit like that while not being very protective, would allow for greater ease of movement, just like Chat's.

Regarding the cycle, I'd think it's once per generation/number of years on random people. In the case of DNAngel it affects two rival clans. In these cases, there would be no incest even with the cycles.
On the location of accessories, I think it could be inconsistent animation? I'd like to think they stay on all the time.
Yeah, those outfits are not practical at all. The hair ribbons are the worst seeing that they'd be totally stuck everywhere as well as the utility tail. Agreeing with how the bell has no clanger since there are decorative bells that don't ring.

Oh yeah, the superhero flair to the outfits (especially with Ladybug actually NOT wearing huge heels) actually does make them somewhat practical, but the accessories push them into the "coolness over practicality" category. (And even if the bell doesn't weigh much, I'd still think it cumbersome, lol.)
But I mean, I'm a fan of the magical girl genre, so I pretty much accept impractical outfits without a second thought! xD Which really makes any point I initially had moot. |D
TL;DR: The outfits are awesome either way. P=

That's what I like about Marinette. Her outfit is less about fanservice and more about being compatible with her fighting style. I completely agree with the accessories bit though.
Haha, stuff like that kinda irks me a little, but at least their outfits aren't as bad as some..

I'm quite satisfied with the outfits this time. Other magical girls I've seen wear either tiny skirts or puffy like ones that are from some ballet.
But what if the bell can also work as a weapon? Imagine getting hit with that.

I know right?
Maybe he can take it off his neck and swing it around like a flail?

i just had a thought reading another comment somewhere else
what if marinette gets the earrings as a present from an older lady friend of her's??? like, an "aunt" or something- friends of family??

I can go with the idea of aunt or grandmother but from her french side of the family.

I think I read somewhere she got them from her grandma, although I don't recall where. That'd imply a skip a generation hereditary power for ladybug. Chat Noir on the other hand, I think had his ring stolen (or maybe in Felix's case, found and put on without thought), who must become the Chat Noir as punishment. So each Chat Noir, after being freed by the Ladybug, sells/locks away/ gives/something the ring, and the next one steals it and gets cursed as a punishment.

This could break the incest part in a way if the ring has no heritage.
What if Marinette's grandmother married the Chat Noir of her time?

This probably shouldn't be here but I just couldn't resist! My first drabble thanks to that XD :
Marinette sighed as she leaned against the cushion, her grandmother silently knitting in front of her.
"Is just that there's this boy... and he keeps bothering me and following around I don't know what to do with him anymore" she had to be careful with her words, wouldn't want to reveal her or his identity -at least not yet-
"Oh? Don't worry, I know how you feel"
"You do?" the girl leaned closer, curious to that revelation from her mamé.
The woman smiled and looked at her grand daughter "Why yes of course, he was quite... what's the word, insistant" she looked at a nearby photograph "We could say... he was like a cat chasing a bug"
