I'm Animedude5555. I'm a fan of anime and video games. I'm sad to see that Miraculous Ladybug has turned into a westernized CGI animation though, instead of the original anime that it was intended to be. Yeah, I know Japanese studios are doing the actual work of animating it, but it doesn't even really look like anime anymore. And I'm not just talking about turning it from 2D into 3D animation. I mean FF7 Advent Children was 3D, but it retained the anime style in the characters' designs. This Ladybug animation though has a completely western 3D animation look now. It looks like a Pixar movie now. Kind of reminds me of the The Incredibles.

Well, the way i see it, i thought the anime version was cute, but the 3D is much more fitting for a modern uperhero series. I think the 3D makes the characters look much better. More human and more relatable. Anime is fun, but it's such an over-used form of animation over the last two decades, that i really can't blame them for trying something new.

If we're being honest with ourselves and look at who's gotten their hands all over it (Disney is the first big influence that comes to mind), this show... kinda got 4kids'd. Younger target audience, iffy pop song, CGI is all the rage these days (you notice how every kid's movie coming out is 3D right now?).
Alas, poor Yorick, they've taken all your weeb cred.

New seasons of Pokemon are coming out still, they are still coming to America, and they are still targeted at kids. So I don't think that saying that all new kids shows are CGI is completely accurate. Disney has embraced 3D CGI animation, but that doesn't mean that it's the most popular overall.

Not all superhero cartoons are now in 3D. Maybe if you are talking about The Incredibles, then yeah, they were. However most new superhero shows are still 2D hand drawn animation, and many of them are drawn in anime style, even when they aren't made in Japan (Avatar The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra, come to mind). This feels more like a ripoff of Disney/Pixar. It probably will be really good, but it won't be as good as it would have been if it stayed an anime show as it was originally planned to be. My only hope is that they will still produce online "webisodes" that will be actual 2D Japanese anime episodes, in addition to the 3D CGI western-style animation that is planned for TV broadcast. Even a 3D/2D combo using celshading based computer rendering, like they did in the Legend of Zelda Windwaker game would be preferable to a full 3D CGI animation, particularly if the character designs in the celshaded graphics involved characters that were anime styled. And if they had to go full 3D CGI like they are doing, it would also be preferable if they had used anime style characters (instead of the western style characters that they are using), for example like was done with all those Vocaloid Miku Miku Dance videos on Youtube, or like Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children (which was a full 3D CGI animated movie, which used anime style characters, and as far as I know it was a major money-making success here in the US). And as for new superhero shows using typical 2D hand-drawn anime, that is still popular in the US, just look at the new Sailor Moon Crystal series which is being released in both Japan and the US. I think that shows that anime superheroes are a popular thing in the US, and that the creators of this Ladybug animation have majorly overlooked this.
