www.worldscreen.com/worldscreenings/display/12296?event=trueI'm too excited elaborate further Also this: www.animationmagazine.net/events/pgs-ladybug-alvin-popular-toons-mip-junior/So it looks like the show won't have any problems with getting aired It looks like the series may in fact be in CGI (though it still credits toei in the opening so idk,) but it's pretty good looking CGI so I'm still happy. Edit: So, I've been snooping around google with the keywords "pgs entertainment"--they seem to be the distributors--and "ladybug," what's interesting is that there were a plethora of articles from the past week in various publications, but almost all of them were only readable with a payed subscription, so I guess all those industry insiders are free to look at it while we wait in the dark, unsure of whether this will be 2d or CGI. One encouraging thing I saw was a preview for this article: www.lefilmfrancais.com/115764/mipcom-2013-ladybug-a-deja-conquis-l-internationalThe preview says that Ladybug has already been sold to a hundred different territories, and was a huge success. And finally, from the video's description: "6-12 action adventure, 26x30 min.) Ladybug, the girl superhero, is helped by Chat Noir in her mission to capture the Akumas, evil creatures led by ButterFly, and save Paris."'Kay, so evil bow tie-wearing guy, whom half of tumblr expects to be Adrien's father, or something, has a name! Though I must say, I would have liked Monarch better. More importantly, Butterfly has a bunch of uh...Japanese demons causing mayhem at his command. I wonder if they have anything to do with those energy beams/butterfly sigils from the trailer?

On Zagtoon's site it still says 2D&CGI, and i don't think they would just stop the whole thing with Toei after all this time. Since that one trailer did acquire a big ass fandom in the first place. Anyways, finally at least another trailer, the animation looks stunning! It's great seeing that ladybug is selling well! Now we'll just have to wait like always.

Found something while looking at this 'MIPJunior' thing: movioca.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/ClipagemMIPJRmagazine.jpg I can make out a plot synopsis somewhat similar to the one used on the new trailer--but what I'm most interested in is the letters right after '26 x 26 minutes'--I can't quite make it out, and if it says something like '2D' or 'CGI' it might be pertinent information.
Errr... after a little more digging I found a pdf version of the MIPJunior 2013 brochure which the last image was a screenshot of: So yeah, I guess it is CGI after all. They wouldn't be pulling any waffling at a place like this. In an article from the brochure, there is a paragraph about Ladybug's production: So it looks like Toei is still advising them on the directing front in order to give the whole thing an anime feel...but it's no longer an anime. (Also, Disney is picking this up? Who'd've thunk...) Still, I doubt this would have blown everyone away if it didn't have genuinely good writing and animation. So I'm okay with it, and I look forward to it. Here's a link to the brochure, for anyone who wants to take a closer look: issuu.com/mipmarkets/docs/mipjunior_2013-preview (there's a godawful shop of chat noir from the slot-machine games superimposed on the cg wallpaper of ladybug in a 2-page advertisement near the beginning of the brochure. I'm not including it because it in this post because it looks fugly XD) EDIT: I think I've hit the jackpot with this site... I found Ladybug in another brochure-type thing! ( issuu.com/worldscreen/docs/tv_kids_mipcom_2013 ) This one's for MIPCOM: I guess we finally have an explanation for pigeon man's existence. But turning people into super villains is an interesting twist on the traditional magical girl plot of turning people into monsters of the week. I wonder if this means these Akumas are evil counterparts to Marinette and Adrien's sprites? I've gotta go ferret out every bit of information I can.

It could be that it will both have a cgi series and a co produced 2D&CGI series with Toei and Method. We shouldn't already jump to conclusions since we're still not near the airing date. And no further information has been given yet except for the advertisment. Unless zagtoon confirm this themself i'll keep faith in the existence of the 2D series because alot of sources still say this. Like the french site from earlier this year. But any sudden changes wouldn't surprise me.

Agreeing to not give up on the anime for September next year.
One of the most pleasing parts of this is for me direct confirmation that it is Black Cat and Adrien. And... Disney is part of this? Will... will it be big and have lots of adorable merchandise? *crosses fingers*
Um... I just remembered something. The original PV was titled "Lady Bug Japanese Version". Does anyone think... the anime might have been a side thing the whole time? Like, it wasn't supposed to be anime, but there was going to be an anime version? Or is that to far-fetched?

I don't think it is a side thing really. And that ''Japanese version''was just to say that the trailer was done by Toei.

I suppose it was a bit of a hasty judgment; but if these clowns are going to play fast and loose with episode count, air date, and animation style, then I will too dammit! (and yes, the merchandise will be adorable. ) <_< Speaking of which... >_> Okay... ever the bearer of good news, I checked out the homepage of AB International Distribution, who, according to that article snippet I posted, are distributing Ladybug along with PGS (in addition to, I guess, having a branch helping out with the show's production, called ABGroup--again see the snippet.) They have a prominent page devoted to Ladybug, which is quite noticeable from their homepage as well. www.ab-international.com/detail.aspxIt contains additional plot information as well as...a tentative release date of "early 2015" On a less melodramatic note, that's only about 4 months different from the September 2014 air date, so I'm gonna keep it cool, and given these people's track record I'm going to say it's simply an estimation; it could come out earlier. I'm just going to link to the article from less than a month ago wherein Gloob allegedly stated that Ladybug would be broadcast late this year. www.anmtv.xpg.com.br/as-novas-aventuras-de-peter-pan-chega-em-outubro-no-gloob/ But like I said, fast and loose, like the wild west only with more ladybugs. They have a page on tv france international, wherein you can download a neat ladybug poster--which as far as I can tell, is a color-corrected version of that older piece of artwork: www.tvfrance-intl.com/en/programmes/presentation/fiche/ladybug.htmlSee? Cute. All is forgiven. Anyway, Marinette's sprite has a name, and the sprites have a name that isn't "sprites", and they apparently have a sprite overlord. Cool. It's gonna take a while for me to stop calling them sprites though, as I found that name to be quite catchy. Interestingly, in this synopsis, Marinette and Adrien are friends instead of adoring fawner and annoyed fawn-ee. Maybe at the very start of the series they'll have a relationship similar to what we saw in the trailer, but Marinette will quickly grow on him, because she's adorable. It looks like the whole 2-person love square is still in effect, though it seems to have gotten slightly less antagonistic on both sides. Also, even though most places list the age demographic as 6-12, these guys think this show will appeal to teenagers. Just what I like to hear. (also, I guess they’re in middle school now instead of high school. Seeing as middle school is the ideal magical girl/boy point in one’s life, I approve of this creative decision ( ̄ー ̄) ) Oh! and PGS also has a Ladybug page on TV France International, with a video no less! Alas, you need to be a paying subscriber to see it, and it could very well be the video on worldscreen anyway. www.tvfrance-intl.com/en/programmes/presentation/fiche/47541_ladybug.htmlEDIT: Also, here's a short newsletter from AB: www.ab-international.com/upload/pdf/newsletter_anim_monde.pdf and a screenshotted synopsis for easy viewing: (HA! finally figured out how these avatars work. This one represents how ladybug leaves me starry eyed @_@)

OMAIGAWD I found it! The unreadable article on the scoopit page! I had given up after I had finally found the publication, only to realize you had to pay to read it online. But I found it! I FOUND THE THING. I wasn't looking for it, but there it was! I mean, it's old as dirt but it's still an important historical document. Now to painstakingly type every word into google translate. I'll have a translation for you guys shortly EDIT: I did it, I climbed the whole mountain! Behold the majesty of google translate: Zagtoon develops the animated series “Miraculous†for TF1. Multiplying projects Zagtoon, the production company of animated series, a subsidiary of Zag Entertainment has signed a development agreement with the series “Miraculous.†When Denier MIFA (International Animation Film Market,) which took place in Annecy from June 6 to 8, Jacqueline Tordjman and Jeremy Zag founders of Zagtoon, specializing in the production of animated series and Yann Labasque Director TF1 youth programs, have signed a development agreement for “Miraculous.†This series of 26x26 ‘, formerly known as “Ladybug,†has a budget of £ 8 million. Are they seriously still waffling between Chat Noir and Black Cat. Oh well. Yay Ladybug sprite- ahem, kwami, getting named! Tikki? Sounds good. I like that more characters are getting names. And at this point I just want the show to be out before Spring 2015, when I graduate high school. That should give them plenty of time.

Would you like some waffles with your waffles? I think I know why there's waffling about his name. You'll notice that the summary in this site is grammatically...dubious. For all these summaries, they're translating from French into English, and it may be that some of the people translating his name aren't aware of the fact it's supposed to be left in French. Still, enough people have been calling him Chat Noir lately that I'm pretty sure it will stay his name. For example, on the French version of the website, the Butterfly is called 'Le Papillon' or however you spell that. Point is, if his name was going to be Black Cat in English, why would they call him Chat Noir in their official English synopsis while translating Butterfly's name? He'll definitely be Chat Noir in French but I guess we'll have to wait until we get a dub from Disney(!) or whatever to know for sure what they'll do with his name. Assuming this is getting dubbed by Disney and they're not just promoting it or helping out with merchandise. Which of the Disney staple of voice actors do you think will be voicing our intrepid protagonists? EDIT: found a thing: METHOD ANIMATION / ZAGTOON: global agreement with Bandai for LadyBug series Method Animation and Zagtoon benefited from the international launch of MipCom adventure series LadyBug (26 x 26 ', 8.6 million euros) to announce that production has a (...) And that's the point at which you need to pay to see the rest of the article, which is from today btw. At first I was like "what do you mean they chopped off 3 million of the budget?!" But then I realized it was in euros and the 11.5 figure was in dollars, when I ran it through the converter... 11,679,248.684 So, either the value of the dollar has gone down, or they've upped their budget. And now Bandai's in on this? Everyone wants a piece of ladybug Here's a link to the article: www.satellifax.com/2013/10/14/method-animation-zagtoon-accord-mondial-avec-bandai-pour-la-serie-ladybug

That makes sense. And I honestly am not familiar enough with voice actors to list off any names... ^_^; Although I'd like it if Marinette's voice worked like Duck in Princess Tutu with the regular version voice being younger sounding and the magical version having a more mature-ish voice, but still the same voice actress.

I hope that for the dub they won't just let those cliché teenage stars on disney channel voice them. Otherwise i'll be seriously pissed. Not that i'm thinking of watching the English dub, i'll just stick with the French version. Chat noir sounds nicer than black cat though so does Le Papillon. And i agree with chikadee, a more serious voice when she turns into ladybug would be great. Princess tutu ftw.

The actress you're thinking of is Luci Christian, and yes that would make an awesome voice for Marinette. Disney's voice actors can be surprisingly good if you give them decent material, like their dubs of Miyazaki for example. I was also pretty impressed with the dubs of the kingdom hearts games as well, baring a few exceptions, and those are mostly Disney voice actors. Still, it's certainly a crapshoot when it comes to dubbing. (Unless it's Stephen Foster doing ADR work, then you know it will be shitty, but I digress...) I'll definitely be watching the French version first and foremost, but I'll check out the dub when it comes out to see if it's any good.

Yes, but it doesn't have to be her. Just someone who could do a voice acting technique like that.
I think the only reason I'd watch the French version is because the release has taken so long. If the dub comes out at the same time I'd prefer to just watch that, because I have an awful time reading subs when I'm trying to watch things. I either miss what they're doing or miss what they said. OTL
